Judy and Vinny are smiling and you would be too if you had just spent a week enjoying the river. We look forward to seeing our fishermen friends in the fall for their week's vacation.

Sandy and Remi's friends, Linda and David Glickstein (The Discerning Travelers) sent them to us a many years ago. They, more than any of our guests were grateful for Rob's forty foot deck and dock area where they spend lazy summer weekends. We always enjoy riparian dining at sunset with Sandy and Remi, especially when the river is like a mirror and baby shad are dancing on top of the water on their way to the ocean.

Barbie and Bobbie are the second couple ever to stay with us almost 19 years ago. They are truly our history. We had the privilege of praying for them when they wanted to have a baby and Amanda is the wonderful result of that answer to prayer. Each fall we have the opportunity of picking up where we left off in conversation the year before. The first question is usually about their commercial farm in Vineland. We have never looked at our produce the same way after learning about the joys and difficulties of farming. This lovely family will always have a special place in our hearts. They were here when we didn't have a clue about what we were doing...and they came back. Amazing!

Diane and Keith booked in for a romantic getaway years ago but before they knew it half their family joined them, particularly their sons who upon arriving and viewing our Victorian house, asked if it was a punishment. We are a far cry from Disney. We have enjoyed following their lives and the growth of their business.

Jackie and Nat usually arrive with a book in their hands anticipating reading and rocking on the veranda. They have been part of our family for many years. We love to banter back and forth with them on many topics but particularly religion and politics. No one is keeping score but I think we are moving closer together in agreement and that's scary. Jackie and Nat inspire us to pay closer attention to the birds about us. They were the first "birders" to visit Chestnut Hill.

Fleurette and Marc stayed in our Country Cottage for six weeks several years ago while they were awaiting the completion of their new home. We had the privilege of meeting this warm, happy couple and hearing remarkable stories of Marc's life in war torn Europe as a little boy (documented in several books). He and his siblings were dispersed to different farmhouses. Marc finally ended up in a convent school where he and many other children were kept safe until the end of the war. I mention this story because Marc chose joy over bitterness, a lesson I want always to remember. We cherish our time with Fleurette and Marc!

Frank and Reida booked in four years ago for only two nights but ended up staying almost a week. We look forward to seeing them each Christmas season. Every time they come we learn more about our area from their many stops along the way. Though they hail from Maryland, Frank and Reida love the Oyster House seafood. I keep a little red terry-cloth teddy bear in my kitchen window to remind me of them. We try to arrange the arrival of our freshly cut Christmas tree with their stay so Frank can help Rob drag it in, spuddering all along the way.

Kumi and Aki from Japan experienced their first American Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas with us. Our times with them have been a wonderful cultural exchange. Since leaving his service with the United Nations in New York we have only been able to see them twice since returning to Japan but we catch up several times a year through the miracle of email. What a dear couple!

Our fun guests Robin and Lou Casper sharing a weekend with their friends. What a happy group!

Joe and Jessica were engaged at Chestnut Hill several years ago and were married last fall. Joe's second job is as a d-jay. We teased him about being a bridegroom and the d-jay also. It is a joy for us to watch couples growing closer together, seeing their wedding pictures, and rejoicing with them each step of the way.

The Iovino Family - Gerard, Marie (back row), Gerard, Samantha (front row), from Bloomfield, NJ, owners of San Marco Ravioli. Often children are restless at our quiet bed and breakfast but the Iovino children were remarkable. They asked numerous questions after Rob gave them the museum rundown of his Indian discoveries on the Chestnut Hill landscape. We are anxious to have them visit again.
Gerard (age 11) - "I had lots of fun and your breakfasts were great. I loved the pancakes. How do you make the river move (on the web site)?"

Steve and Nancy Balliet - I want to thank Linda and Rob for their patience and trust in me on this web site. Through that and Linda's artistic eye for things, you see the "finished" product. Yes, some pages load a little slow, but because of that, I feel you will have a better feel of the uniqueness of Chestnut Hill on the Delaware. A distinctive web site for a exceptional bed & breakfast. Linda and Rob's warmth and love for all people shows through to all who meet them. Nancy and I appreciate the love they continue to offer to us. They have been one of God's many blessings in our lives.
